MDFR: 8 people, including 5 children, injured in southwest Miami-Dade crash

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Eight people, including five children, were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday evening in southwest Miami-Dade, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The crash occurred near Southwest 286th Street and 142nd Avenue around 6:47 p.m.

MDFR said 19 units responded to the scene, which was classified as a “Mass Casualty Incident,” due to the number people of injured.

They said rescue crews found at least one person trapped inside a vehicle and were able to safely extricate three patients. In total, eight people were hurt — three adults and five children.

According to MDFR officials, all five children were transported to nearby trauma centers. The three adults were also transported to local hospitals for treatment.

No additional information on the victims’ ages, conditions, or the cause of the crash was immediately available.
