Deputies ID bicyclist killed in northwest Miami-Dade hit-and-run

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities have identified the man killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this week in northwest Miami-Dade as 67-year-old Samuel Lee Singletary.

According to deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Singletary was riding a bicycle along State Road 7 (US-441) near Northwest 95th Street when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver fled the scene, heading north on 441, deputies said.

Authorities said Singletary was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died.

Investigators have not released a detailed description of the vehicle or driver involved.

A white van seen at the scene belonged to a witness who told Local 10 News he used it to block traffic and protect the injured man before first responders arrived.

The crash shut down both directions of US-441 as investigators processed the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
