Powerline falls in Fort Lauderdale, setting several vehicles on fire

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A powerline fell down Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, setting multiple vehicles on fire.

The incident occurred off Southeast 15th Street.

Cellphone video from a witness shows the line draped over a vehicle.

Jennifer Dunworth told Local 10 News that she heard a loud explosion outside of her condo.

“It was a loud bang,” she said.

Dunworth said she walked out to find a work van torched, along with several other vehicles.

“Work truck on fire, another pickup truck, as well as an SUV, and damage to another vehicle as well,” she said.

The downed powerline caused power outages to some homes in the immediate area.

Crews from Florida Power & Light worked to restore power.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the downed powerline was not immediately clear.
