Miami woman claims $2M prize playing Florida Lottery scratch-off game

MIAMI — A lucky woman won a $2 million prize in Miami after playing a lottery scratch-off game, Lottery officials announced Monday.

Virginia Alvarez, 69, of Miami, claimed a $2 million top prize from the 100X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at the Lottery’s Miami District Office.

Alvarez chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,280,000.

She purchased her winning ticket from Government Discount, located at 3709 Northwest 7th Street in Miami.

The retailer received a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
